More and more drivers, French and foreign alike, cross France by electric car for a summer trip or a long weekend. The charging network has grown a lot in recent years, but a few simple pointers are enough to set off without stress.

Nearly every French motorway service area is now equipped with fast or ultra-fast chargers, run by several operators such as Ionity, Fastned, Atlante, TotalEnergies or Electra. Power output generally ranges from 150 to 400 kW, enough for a 20 to 30 minute stop to cover most legs of a trip.
