France's regulated electricity tariff rose 2.5% on August 1, 2026, but the off-peak option finally opened up to smaller 3kVA subscriptions.

France's regulated electricity tariff, the well-known 'tarif bleu' from EDF, rose by an average of 2.5% including tax on August 1, 2026. That hike directly affects EV owners, since home charging remains the most economical option day to day.

The new rates as of August 1, 2026

On the Base option, the price per kWh now stands at 0.2001 euros. On the off-peak/peak option, off-peak hours cost 0.1589 euros per kWh, against 0.2142 euros during peak hours, still a meaningful gap for anyone charging overnight.

Good news for smaller subscriptions

The off-peak/peak option is now open to 3kVA subscriptions, previously reserved for 6kVA and above. In practice, more households, including smaller homes, can now access discounted overnight charging.

A dedicated offer for EV owners

EDF also offers a plan called 'Vert Électrique Auto', aimed at electric or hybrid vehicle owners living in houses, with off-peak hours designed to make overnight charging particularly attractive.
